Summit Sealants Website – Construction Industry

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

summit sealants website home pageThe Project

Stephen Berwanger of Summit Sealants contacted Visual Adventures for a new website.  He needed a website that his staff could update to show what projects the company was working on.  Summit Sealants is a medium sized construction business that operates all over the Western US.  They specialize in commercial sealing and weatherizing on projects like high angle work on skyscrapers or concrete slabs in new Walmart stores.

One of the things that impresses me the most about Summit Sealants is that once a year, Summit Sealants gives away grant money to support climbing endeavors.  It’s great to see a company supporting community in this way.

The Design and Development

summit sealants photo galleryStephen wanted a design that would show the contrasts in locations that he both worked in and loved, the San Juan mountains of Southwestern Colorado and the Metro Denver region.  To accomplish this, we gave Denver a more interesting mountain backdrop than what exists in reality, Mt Sneffels.

WordPress is usually my go-to solution for clients that want to update or maintain their website.  There are just so many tools to work with that are so easy to implement and keep updated.

Ouray Victorian Inn gets a New Look and More Features

victorian inn ouray site design

The Project

The owners of the Victorian Inn contacted Visual Adventures because they wanted a new look and feel for their site, more functionality, more hits and higher conversion rates.  Visual Adventures created a design that would attract a wide variety of people and have an inviting feel.  Part of selling a hotel in Ouray is selling Ouray itself, which is not hard to do considering the beauty and charm of the area as well as the wide variety of activities.  From almost anywhere in town, the views are breathtaking.  Jason was able to provide beautiful photography from his days of living in Ouray, Co.

The Design and Development

For this project we were replacing a Joomla based site with a WordPress site.  The client wanted a site that was easier to update and maintain along with additional functionality.  WordPress fit the bill for both.  The site links to an online booking engine which enables guests to book online at their convenience. We also added an events calendar that the client can update and link to blog posts to keep viewers up to date on what’s happening in town.

Search Marketing/SEO

To ensure the clients search marketing/SEO goals would be met Lisa has been involved in the design as well as the development.  Data from Google Analytics and Web Master tools was analyzed  prior to the site going live and any errors or issues in Google were corrected.  Lisa’s work seems to be paying off already as the site is rising up google’s rankings and increasing in hits.

The Ouray Victorian Inn has ice climber friendly rooms and has discounts for Ice Park Members.  Be sure to check out their Facebook page for other seasonal discounts.

The live website can be viewed at http://victorianinnouray.com.

  • Events Calendar
  • Logo Design
  • Links to Online Booking Engine

evolv new website designThis is a sneak peak of the latest project: a redesign of evolv’s website. Mountain Luxury : Website Design

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

mountain luxury homepage
The Mountain Luxury website was a pretty large project. We began with a custom design aimed for high end real estate in resort areas in Utah. We then integrated an MLS / IDX system, which allows  the viewer to search for real estate listings and view agent information. The site utilizes the blog in a dynamic nature by displaying blog posts for related subjects on each page. There is also an added database table that searches for local schools in the areas viewers are interested in.

Property Results Page

mountain luxury property results
The Search Results page pulls in property listings from the local MLS service via IDX Broker’s system. IDX Broker has a great set of tools we were able to use to customize how search results were displayed.

Resort Page

mountain luxury resort page
These pages have been programmed to pull in blog post excerpts that have been tagged for the specific resort. You can see these in the white box. The box below that pulls in property listings in the particular resort. Both of these features pull in the information dynamically so the page auto-updates itself without the client needing to do anything. This gives the viewers fresh content as they travel the site.

School Search Page

The School Search was built by modifying the WP-Property plugin to display schools. The WP-Property plugin is meant as a real estate and property management tool, but with a little re-arranging of this and that, it becomes a useful tool to store and search information about schools.

The Canyon Gallery Website Design

The Company

The Canyon Gallery first opened in historic downtown Montrose as a fine Nature Photography Gallery.  Since opening they have rapidly diversified; offering photography classes, as well as archival printingmounting and framing.   more…

The Project

We tried to incorporate the look and feel of the Canyon Gallery’s physical interior into the site design.  Also to give it a historic mixed with modern western feel.  The site was built as a way to show images, to sell prints, and to communicate with the public.  We integrated a WordPress base with BigCommerce and the NextGen Smooth Gallery to display images.  Currently, the ecommerce portion is not on the live site.

The live website can be viewed at http://thecanyongallery.com.

Photography featured in Lowe Alpine Calendar

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Jason Nelson on the Diamond, Longs PeakLowe Alpine, renown maker of excellent backpacks, has included a photograph by Jason Nelson in their 2011 Calendar.  The photo is on the September page and features Jack Jefferies approaching the Diamond, a big cliff near the summit of Longs Peak in Colorado.  You can check out the calendar here: http://content.yudu.com/Library/A1pvpp/LoweAlpine2011Calend/resources/index.htm

Jason and Jack were successful in climbing two routes on the Diamond that trip.  Unfortunately, the trip was overshadowed by witnessing a fatality while climbing.  Another climber fell 800 feet while climbing unroped.  The picture on this page is of Jason high on the Diamond, but is not the pic featured in the Calendar.
