Inside the Largest Living Thing On Earth

It’s Okay To Be Smart | PBS

When asked if I wanted to go and fly my drones through the aspen trees for a TV show the answer was pretty simple, “umm… yes!”

That’s about how the story began. This was then followed by a trip to Kebler Pass near Crested Butte, Colorado to hang out with Joe Hansen and Brian Hueske filming to film an episode of It’s Okay To Be Smart. I had a great time and managed to not crash my drones into any of the aspen trees. That’s always a relief.

I filmed on a combination of the DJI Air2s and several of my FPV drones including a smashed squirt cinewhoop built by the locally based Drone CO Productions, 5″ freestyle quads, and my long range 7″ FR7 that I had recently built myself.

I followed up with some footage of my local Red Mountain Pass area that was ripe with yellow aspens that were also used in the show. I hope you enjoy it and learn something!
